Waterloo Central Railway

The Waterloo Central Railway is a recreational passenger train that runs on a historic railway branch between the St. Jacobs Market, the Village of St. Jacobs, and the town of Elmira, just outside of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

With the participation of the Government of Canada.

Our Organization

The Waterloo Central Railway is operated by the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society (SOLRS), a non-profit charitable organization made up of volunteers dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and operation of vintage railway equipment.

Our Purpose

To preserve and recreate the excitement, romance, and history, of rail travel within our community through fun and educational, hands-on experiences with working steam-powered locomotives.
