Join us and travel back in time for an authentic heritage train ride through Woolwich Township and Waterloo Regions’ famous Mennonite farm country on our historical rail line. This line was first built in the late 1800s and has been in continuous service since then.
Sit back and relax as you travel through the picturesque countryside and beautiful farming landscape we are so proud of. Choose your preferred viewing area, either standard coach seating or first-class lounge seating.
Whether you’re a returning guest or visiting us for the first time, we look forward to having you join us at the Waterloo Central Railway, dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and operation of Canadian heritage railway equipment.
Your round-trip journey begins at one of our two platforms. Either board at our Waterloo Northfield Drive platform across the street from the Northfield ION station, or if you are travelling by the ION Light Rail Transit system or driving, board at the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market Station on Farmers Market Drive. Both departures are the same fare and we will return you to the station you departed from.
While in the area, please visit the St. Jacobs Farmers Market next to our station. The market is open each Thursday and Saturday. Just down the road, you can also visit the village of St. Jacobs which offers a wide array of shops and is open seven days per week.
COACH CAR
Our standard coaches offer traditional rail seating in groups of four as depicted in the photo shown here offering a wide-open panoramic view of the countryside and Mennonite farms adjacent to our rail line.
FIRST CLASS LOUNGE CAR

No parking is available at Waterloo Northfield Drive but there is plenty of parking at the Farmers Market Station. Please note that our trains do not stop at our Restoration & Maintenance Facility in St. Jacobs.
