COVID-19 Update

While great progress has been made in the Province of Ontario, we all are still facing the continuing impacts of COVID-19. The health and safety of you and your family, our crews, volunteers and staff are our number one priority. While we closely monitor the daily government reports on the evolving impact of COVID-19 there is a substantial difference between being legally able to open our operation under Stage 3 in Ontario and being able to do so safely taking into consideration the previously mentioned concerns. To that end, we will not be offering our regular and special passenger services at this time until it is safe to do so.

Builder: CN Pointe St. Charles shops, Montreal, Quebec

Date Built: 1971

Lineage: CN 79482 / WCRX 482 / WCRX 79482

Notes:

  • CN 79482 was one of 548 steel cabooses built by Canadian National Railways’ Pointe St. Charles shops in Montreal between 1970 and 1977 using boxcars as cores.
  • Used by CN as shoving platform after retirement as working van
  • To Waterloo Central Railway in 2007, renumbered 482 and modified to carry passengers
  • To be returned to original CN number (79482) in 2021
