Waterloo Central Railway is very excited to announce that we have entered into an agreement to purchase and acquire steam locomotive #1238, a former Canadian Pacific Railway G5c class 4-6-2 “Pacific” type, built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1946.
We are excited to see #1238 fully restored and operational in Canada after it has spent so many years in the USA. Steam locomotive #1238 is currently in good condition but is in need of some restoration work in order to get it back into service. Once restored, #1238 will be the second largest operating steam locomotive in Canada.
To complete this work, we need your help to raise $150,000.00 by December 25, 2023, in order to acquire this heritage locomotive and get started with restoration. Donations are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
You can click here or use the form below to donate online, or donate via cheque to SOLRS, 50 Isabella Street, PO Box 546, St Jacobs, ON N0B 2N0 (please mark cheque “For 1238 Fund”).
