Waterloo Railway Exposition

The Waterloo Region Model Railway Club (WRMRC) and Waterloo Central Railway (WCR) are very excited to be presenting the very first annual Waterloo Railway Exposition!

This is a combination of a Railway Prototype Modellers meet along with a real live 1:1 rail experience at Waterloo Central Railway. This is a very unique combination of events, and most likely, the very first of its kind in Canada!

This event will be held on August 29-30, 2026 at the Homewood Suites located in North Waterloo, close to the quaint village of St. Jacobs.

Shop Tour Shuttle Train: $25
Ride one of WCR’s heritage diesel trains from the St. Jacobs Market Station to visit WCR’s Maintenance and Restoration Facility. Tour through the shop and see first-hand railway preservation at it’s finest! Ride the train back to the the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market Station and continue your expo experience. Shuttles depart every hour on the hour between 10am and 3pm. The last return train will leave the shop at 4:00pm.

Speeder Rides: $10
Take a ride on one of WCR’s vintage track maintenance vehicles! Speeder rides are available on August 29 between 11am and 3pm. Located on the Waterloo Spur, starting at the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market Station, and traveling down the Waterloo Spur towards Randall Drive. Be sure to purchase your speeder ride ticket online in advance.

Banquet: $90
Enjoy a banquet featuring a buffet dinner, cash bar, great conversation with fellow enthusiasts, and a discussion panel led by the WCR General Manager, Bob Fallowfield alongside industry experts.
This will be held on August 29 with dinner being served at 6:30pm at the Homewood Suites Benjamin Room (buffet) with the panel discussion following in the Hearth Room. Tickets for the banquet are available to purchase until August 6, 2026.

Steam Train Rides:
Step back in time with a heritage ride behind Steam Locomotive No. 9 (MLW 0-6-0), complete with a classic run-past for an unforgettable photo opportunity. More details and tickets are available at the Steam Train Rides webpage.

Vendors:

Interested in being a vendor at the RPM Show? Reserve your table as soon as possible as space is limited! Included with your vendor package are two general admissions to the RMP Show, all clinics, the WRMRC Open House (Sunday), one 6’ x 3’ table (with electrical) two speeder rides, and the Friday evening Meet & Greet (from 6pm to 10pm at the Hampton Restaurant/Patio)
Please note this show is not a flea market. Tables are $75 each.

Exhibitors:

All exhibits should be static scale railroad models. Please indicate when purchasing your Expo admission ticket if you wish to reserve a free 6’ x 18” Exhibitor Table.

We are pleased to offer preferred rates to all Waterloo Railway Expo guests. After purchasing your Expo tickets, you will receive a confirmation email with details on how to book overnight stays at a discounted rate. Discounted rates are available at both Homewood Suites by Hilton Waterloo/St. Jacobs and Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton – Waterloo/St. Jacobs. Discounted rates are available from Thursday, August 27 to Sunday, August 30, 2026.
